Boardwalk Dining Table
In October, 2012, the largest hurricane on record in the Atlantic Ocean wreaked havoc across seven countries. Superstore Sandy worked together with the ocean, wind and rain to innocently steal lives, homes, and security from those closest and most vulnerable. The progress of rebuilding and the passing of time pushes this storm deeper and deeper into history. I dedicate the Sandy Series to the memory of her power and the realization of how much can change for so many people in such a short period of time.
The above shows the original composition with the wood in raw condition, most recently stripped from its original purpose, the Long Beach Boardwalk. Below see the progress of reconditioning. The application of acrylic paint enhances the original characteristics of the wood, while keeping the original imperfections that add to its overall charm.
